“I found happiness within myself.”
Childfree Story: Rushi, 37, Canada
“I’m an immigrant, artist and meditator who grew up in India and now lives in Canada. I’m single, and unmarried. I’ve decided not to have children.
I wanted a child, but my perspective changed when I saw life differently. It was a recent realization. I saw the suffering of human beings, and no matter how much care you take, your child will eventually face fundamental life challenges like old age, disease, and death.
My friends and family have all gotten married and have children, and they no longer relate to me. My family is deeply rooted in old feelings and can’t understand my decision. For me, a childfree life means practicing meditation, travelling, spreading awareness about meditation, inner peace, and world peace. I never regretted not having children.
Yes, I have some close friends, but I’m not very social. I found happiness within myself and don’t crave social connections. It’s challenging to find other childfree people, but being childfree means being happy and at peace.”

Thank your for sharing your story, Rushi. It took courage to follow your path and I'm wishing you much peace and contentment in your chosen life.
Like you say Rushi, you are happy and at peace, with no regrets. At 71 I feel the same way and beyond anything I have ever done I feel to choose to not have children is the most important thing.
